Kathmandu, Nepal - From new-born babies to the elderly, along with the whole spectrum of our human family—students, disabled, orphaned, and eminent leaders of civil society, all celebrated the UN International Day of Families in Nepal. Programs held in five cities may well have helped Nepalese rediscover their most cherished heritage: the intergenerational family.

UPF's Principles of Peace Applied to Nepal's Business Culture

Kathmandu, Nepal - In a unique educational initiative UPF-Nepal partnered with five business colleges, including the first and largest university in Nepal, to conduct a half-day program entitled Leadership Training in the Business World.”The seminar held in Kathmandu at UPF’s Peace Embassy building on May 11 attracted more than 100 students of business and commerce at both the bachelor's and master's level.

This was the consensus expressed at the 13th South Asia Peace Initiative conference held in Kathmandu on April 14 (New Year’s Day in Nepal). The theme was, “Achieving Meaningful Democracy in South Asia: Challenges and Prospects.”

Taiwan and Nepalese Medical Volunteers Serve in Nepal

Kathmandu, Nepal - The International Cultural Educational Foundation (ICEF) of Taiwan and Nepal along with UPF-Nepal jointly organized free medical service programs in Nepal on the theme “Health Is Happiness” held March 12-15 in two cities with more than 1,500 people being given free medical services.

Essay Contest Celebrates Interfaith Harmony Week in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Nepal - UPF-Nepal partnered with Religions for Peace and Nepal Anuvrat Samiti (Nepal Commitment Society of the Jain tradition) to hold a UN World Interfaith Harmony Week celebration in Kathmandu on February 7. An essay competition focusing on students was held with the theme, "Celebrating Interfaith Harmony for Love and Service to One Another." The venue was a local government school.

Ambassadors for Peace Education in Southern Nepal

Tackling current issues head-on, UPF-Nepal held two education programs in southern Nepal, in Itahari and Biratnagar, January 29 and 30. Kavre, Nepal - “Building Friendship through Service” was the theme of the Religious Youth Service project at an orphanage and monastery in Banepa in the Kavre District of Nepal December 2-9. Forty-seven people from six nations participated in community-based service, education in values, leadership training, interfaith visits and dialogues, and cross-cultural learning experiences.

Rallies Celebrate the 7th Anniversary of Nepal's Peace Process

Kathmandu, Nepal - Celebrating the seventh anniversary of Nepal's peace process, UPF-Nepal held rallies in Kathmandu and seven other cities on November 22. In 2005, Rev. and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon arrived in Kathmandu to found UPF, and the Maoist insurgents and the government's Seven Party Alliance signed a 12-point Memorandum of Understanding, beginning Nepal's peace process.

Day of Peace Observed in Nine Cities in Nepal

Kathmandu, Nepal - To celebrate the UN International Day of Peace, Ambassadors for Peace, teachers, students, social workers, and other volunteers organized many activities, including holding interreligious prayers, lighting lamps, conducting academic dialogue meetings, distributing food, debating, planting trees, sweeping streets, cleaning parks, and picking up garbage.
