The cancellation of two proposed new coal-burning power plants in Iowa is a ray of hope that we can indeed cope with the new reality of human-caused global warming. A major factor in the cancellations was the state of the economy and lack of capital. However, it was encouraging that Interstate Power and Light will continue constructing a wind farm in northern Iowa.
