Concert in London Raises Funds for North Korean Children's Hospital

London, UK - A charitable concert at 43 Lancaster Gate, London, on April 12 raised funds for humanitarian projects to benefit North Korean children. UPF-UK, Youth UPF-UK and the International Relief and Friendship Foundation-UK partnered with the Red Cross of North Korea to set up and supply a children's hospital in Nam Po near the country's capital of Pyongyang, where currently there is none.

Free Medical Clinic Held in Nepal

Kathmandu, Nepal — “I am very, very happy to serve the Nepalese people. I have traveled to more than six countries and find Nepalese people humble and sincere,” said Dr. Shirahisi Hiroshi, an ophthalmologist, from the Isshin Hospital in Tokyo, Japan, after serving at a free medical clinic March 7-9, 2014 in Banepa, on the outskirts of the capital of Nepal.

Ural Students Bring Christmas Joy to Orphans

Yekaterinburg, Russia - Christmas and New Year’s Day are a special time of the year, combining spirituality and joy. Perhaps that is why so many people feel the need to help those who are in a difficult situation in December and January. Twenty-three students from the Ural Federal University visited an orphanage on Dec. 19 to bring Christmas joy to the children.

Youth Volunteers as Peacebuilders in Europe and Eurasia

Paris, France - Youth delegations from Europe and Eurasia who had come to Paris for a European Leadership Conference also met separately to discuss youth volunteerism as a way to bring the two regions closer. The young delegates were participants in the conference entitled “Eurasia and Europe: Cooperating for a Culture of Peace and Human Development,” which was jointly organized by UPF and the Women’s Federation for World Peace on Dec. 3 and 4, 2013.

In the "Shining City," religious, political, business and educational leaders forged relationships with local dignitaries, academics and business leaders that can have a significant impact on their countries.

Malaysian Villagers Receive Free Health Screening

UPF Appeals for Aid to Victims of Typhoon Haiyan in Philippines

We are appealing for aid to victims of Typhoon Haiyan that struck the Philippines Nov. 7, creating massive destructive loss of life and displacement of persons without adequate water, housing or sanitation. Service Project in Georgia Brings Together South Caucasus Youth

Zugdidi, Georgia - A Religious Youth Service project July 20-28 in western Georgia's historic province of Samegrelo included renovating the social center, doing ecological activities, visiting places of worship of various religions, participating in character education activities, and competing in sport programs. There were memorable opportunities for international participants to do sightseeing, enjoy fun activities, and go on cultural visits.

UPF Offers Aid to Marshall Islands Drought Victims

Majuro, Marshall Islands - The northern part of the Marshall Islands has experienced severe drought for the past several months. With no rainfall and lack of water for irrigation, crops have been dying, and people are suffering from a shortage of drinking water. UPF-Marshall Islands offered a donation of US$600 on June 17 to the government to help provide relief.

Free Juice Distributed on Buddha Jayanti in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Nepal - Free juice was distributed on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti, May 25, 2013, in Ananda Ktu Vihar, Swoyambhu, a World Heritage Site sacred to Buddhists in Kathmandu, Nepal. From morning until evening people from all walks of life paid their respects to the Buddha. Overall, more than 5,000 people attended. UPF volunteers offered juice and mineral water to children, women, the elderly, devotees, scouts, security personal and people in general.

Spring Week of Goodness Campaign Launched in Moscow

The long-awaited Spring Week of Goodness under the motto "We are creating our future together!" was launched in Russia on April 20. Each year there is a growing number of people wishing to participate in cleaning streets and parks, planting trees, giving charity concerts, assisting children and war veterans, and taking part in sports activities. Each year, UPF and the Young Ambassadors for Peace organize various events during Russia's Spring Week of Goodness. This year events took place in Moscow and Novosibirsk.

Taiwan and Nepalese Medical Volunteers Serve in Nepal
