Christian Leaders Alliance of Peru Meets in Lima

Lima, Peru - Ministers and lay workers representing many different facets of the Christian faith - Catholic, Anglican, Evangelical and Adventist - came together at the end of February to review the progress that had been made since UPF-Peru initiated the Christian Leaders Alliance at the end of 2012.

Toronto, Canada– The March 1 meeting of Ambassadors for Peace in Toronto focused on faith and family in preparation for participating in a television talk show.

In Honduras, It’s Not about the Pieces, But How They Work Together

Comayagua, Honduras - “It’s not about the pieces… but how they work together” was the theme of an international, intergenerational service project from Jan. 7-16, 2014. The project included a visit to a women’s cottage industry, home stays and meals in the homes of community members, music, dance, and a lot of friendship building. The group offered assistance to two schools in Comayagua and created a mosaic, designed jointly by two young adults from Honduras and two young women from New Jersey.

Toward a New Paradigm for Peace and Human Development

Seoul, Korea - “Toward a New Paradigm for Peace and Human Development” was the theme of an International Leadership Conference that drew people from 50 nations to Seoul, Korea, from Feb. 9 to 13, 2014. Distinguished diplomats, scholars and peace activists offered insights into current events on the Korean Peninsula and in the Middle East to the 165 conference participants. Religious leaders, educators, journalists and women leaders described their work to build understanding and improve relations among diverse people in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Seeking 100 Outstanding Nigerians to Work for National Unity

Abuja, Nigeria - As Nigeria commemorates 100 years (1914 - 2014) of unity in diversity, UPF-Nigeria will be celebrating Nigeria @ 100 with the appointment of 100 outstanding Nigerians and their spouses as Ambassadors for Peace on April 14, 2014 at the Main Auditorium of the National Merit Award House in Maitama, Abuja. The 100 Ambassadors for Peace shall be commissioned and mobilized as a UPF-Nigeria national unity committee.

UPF Celebrates World Interfaith Harmony Week in 21 Nations

With the motto of "Love of God and Love of the Neighbor" / "Love of the Good and Love of the Neighbor," UPF and its network of Ambassadors for Peace celebrated UN World Interfaith Harmony Week 2014. Programs took place at UN offices, UPF peace embassies and a variety of places of worship.

UPF-Australia Presents Soccer Awards for Peace, Health and Harmony

Sydney, Australia - Two sports-loving Ambassadors for Peace dedicated to bringing together people of the diverse communities living in Sydney through soccer invited UPF-Australia to present "Youth Peace-Builder" awards to outstanding young athletes on Feb. 2, 2014. Their Talen Soccer Academy teaches not only the finer skills and tactics of soccer but also sportsmanship, self-esteem and character development.

Toronto Forum on the Role of Culture in Resolving Middle Eastern Conflicts

Toronto, Canada - Conflicts in the Middle East are not limited to the Israel/Palestine conflict, Dr. Mordecai Kedar emphasized at a meeting on Jan. 26, 2014 in Toronto, Canada. The Intercultural Dialogue Institute of Greater Toronto offered its venue for the Israeli expert on Israeli-Arab issue to lead a wide-ranging discussion of relations among the diverse peoples of the Middle East.
