Sports for Peace programs integrate sports and education in order to promote peaceful communities. UPF believes that sports are a great potential instrument for peace. The educational component of Sports for Peace is aligned with the UN’s effort to promote peace and development through sports, while increasing the awareness of how sports can contribute to personal development, community harmony, and a healthy lifestyle. Coaches and officials can also take this opportunity to encourage good sportsmanship. For information about how to organize a program, click here.

UPF chapters have developed a variety of programs using sports to bring people together and promote character building. For example, in cities throughout Russia, a "Run Hour" in public parks has become a popular way to mobilize youthful energy to publicize worthy causes. In several nations, friendly matches between football teams from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds build respect and goodwill.
