Minsk, Belarus – UPF-Belarus, in partnership with the Altera youth association, organized a Peace Festival in honor of the International Day of Peace on September 22, 2024. The event, part of the global Peace Road initiative, was themed: "Peace Road 2024: The Path to Peace and Reconciliation,” promoting the idea of building an International Peace Road to foster global unity beyond racial, national and religious divides.
Participants, mostly young people, began with a moment of silence for victims of war and armed conflicts. This was followed by a presentation from UPF-Belarus president, Mr. Vitaly Maximov, on the International Peace Highway, a project proposed by UPF founders Rev. and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon in 1981, to connect countries via major international routes.
The festival included a sports program, dividing participants into groups of cyclists, runners, walkers and children. Along the route, they engaged in activities such as learning about Nobel Peace Prize laureates, performing a "Dance of Peace," and discussing strategies for conflict resolution.
The event concluded with medal presentations and a communal lunch.
