Tegucigalpa, Honduras – For the Christian community “Jesus is my King" in Tegucigalpa, the last Sunday of the year is a time for closing the year’s blessings and setting the foundation for a prosperous New Year. So Sunday, December 29, 2024, was an auspicious day for the church’s pastor, Apostle Francisco Noé Corea Mejia, to be appointed as an ambassador for peace by UPF-Honduras.
The ceremony was held at the church following the Sunday service. Early on, the congregation and special guests filled the premises at the news that their pastor would be receiving this special honor. Pastor Noé Corea has participated as a lecturer and panelist in several webinars arranged by UPF in the Central American and Caribbean region, under the Interreligious Association for Peace and Development (IAPD).
The UPF delegation included Regional Chair Mr. Mario Salinas, Secretary General of UPF-Honduras Mr. Jorge Morel, and several ambassadors for peace including Pastor Elsa Moncada and Dr. Maritza Morel. A welcome committee received the UPF representatives and led them to the main table prepared for this special event.
After the Sunday service, which included praise songs, prayers and a sermon by Pastor Noé Corea, the UPF delegation was called upon. Mr. Salinas gave a short speech, suggesting that the congregation expand their minds and hearts to receive even greater blessings in 2025. He then presented the Ambassador for Peace certificate to Pastor Corea.
The church's multimedia team had created a commemorative screen for the event. Pastor Corea and his wife invited their three sons to be part of the celebration and the commemorative picture.
