Huaraz, Peru – With the sponsorship of the District Municipality of Independencia Huaraz, UPF-Peru organized the IV Peace Road Walk for Universal Peace on November 25, 2023. More than 20 organizations joined this event, to promote universal peace and to support a comprehensive health campaign aimed at the entire population.
The rally and departure took place in the Plaza de Armas, attended by the burgomaster of Independencia, Mayor Ladislao Cruz Villachica, his councilors, city officials and staff. Members of neighborhood associations, public and private educational institutions, and city residents joined the walk, along with the National Police of Peru, who enlivened the scene with music by their marching band.
Secretary General of UPF-Peru Jaime Fernández Túpac and Coordinator for the Ancash Region Regina Armas led the 7-kilometer walk. The theme, "Great March for Peace," was a call for harmony and for building an environment conducive to collective well-being, demonstrating that unity and collaboration are essential to achieve lasting peace.
This event took place within the framework of the celebration of U.N. Human Rights Day and the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
As part of the meeting, a ceremony was held to appoint new Ambassadors for Peace. Mayor Ladislao Cruz Villa Chica and a number of educators, media, health, art and culture professionals received this honor.
