Vladivostok, Russia—About 100 residents of this Far East city took part in a Peace Road event celebrating the United Nations’ International Day of Peace. Through the VKontakte social network, participants were invited by UPF, by the Iron Team Club, and by Ark, an interregional public organization for disabled people, to take part in a run at the Stroitel (“Builder”) Stadium on September 23, 2023.
The Primorsky Territory Triathlon and Polyathlon Federation, the Bostok company, and the Primfood group of companies were sponsors of the program. Participants included mothers with special-needs children; schoolchildren with their parents; disabled adults; young and elderly people; and even athletes.
After a short speech by Maria Sergienko, the local UPF representative, about the meaning of International Day of Peace and the Peace Road initiative, Dmitry Yakukhny, the head of the Iron Team Club, conducted warm-up exercises for all participants.
After the run finished, Mr. Yakukhny, himself an Ambassador for Peace, solemnly awarded an Ambassador for Peace certificate to Alexander Ufilin for his social activities in Vladivostok and the Primorsky Territory, his active lifestyle, and his improvement of public places.
At the end of the event, Mrs. Sergienko presented Mr. Yakukhny with the memoirs of UPF co-founder Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon.
