Luanda, Angola – The Association of Happy Couples of Angola (ACFA) organized its second community education lecture on Social Moralization at the Temple of the Fanuel Pentecostal Church in the district of Viana Sede on April 19, 2024. The Luanda provincial government and the Viana municipal administration co-sponsored the event.
Rev. Kinambuta Sambu Pedro, co-chairman of UPF-Angola, was one of two key speakers. In his speech, “The Role of Civil Society Organizations in Promoting Family Peace,” he explained how the practice of moral virtues in the home and in society compliment each other, and build a culture of peace.
The second speaker, Mr. Evaristo Floriano of ACFA, furthered this theme in his talk on “The Gains of Peace and Its Opportunities for Communities.” He referenced Angola’s violent past, saying that now, with the laying down of arms, every citizen enjoys freedom. He recommended that organizations expand the peace through projects aimed at reducing hunger and unemployment.
Attendees included Dr. Diogo João, president and founder of ACFA, along with the directors of multiple local chapters of the organization. Hon. Anil Rafael represented Mr. José Gombo, president of the Jucarente Association, along with other Jucarente leaders. Various religious groups, philanthropic associations, and civil society organizations were also represented among the 304 people who took part in the program, including 196 women and 108 men.
Finally, attendees were urged to join a clean-up campaign the next day in Kilamba Kiaxi, as well as a blood donation campaign on April 26.
