Yerevan, Armenia – Mountain trekking for peace is an annual tradition for UPF activists in the Caucasus region. From June 18 to 21, 2024, volunteers in Armenia organized an international hike as part of the Peace Road project. Twenty brave souls took part, from Armenia, Russia, Germany, Poland, and Austria. Mr. Hovhannes Barseghyan, secretary general of UPF-Armenia, led the team on a four-day trek of over 80 kilometers, through the Dilijan National Park, ascending over 900 meters in elevation.
The team passed through the village of Khachardzan, past beautiful Lake Gosh, to the 13th-century monastery of Goshavank. They stopped at the small but delightful Parz Lich, which means “clear lake,” visited the spa town of Dilijan, and climbed majestic Mount Dimats.
This arduous but uplifting adventure was dedicated to the cause of seeking peace in conflict zones.
