Buenos Aires, Argentina—The International Association of Arts and Culture for Peace (IAACP) and UPF-Argentina initiated the 2023 Poetry Series and invited renowned writers Rubén Balseiro and Osvaldo Rossi (1). The virtual meeting took place on June 29 and July 27, 2023 respectively, gathering around 40 participants interested in poetry, from Argentina and other countries.
Art has the potential to build bridges through its universal language, transcending barriers, and to reunite and mobilize the human family, joining minds and hearts, as not many areas can do. Poetry, and particularly poets, for their special sensitivity and interpretation of certain situations, sometimes become the “prophets of the times.”
Osvaldo Rossi is a writer, university teacher, English-Spanish translator of poetry and essays, and author of 10 poetry books, one storytelling book and three essays on poetry. Rubén Balseiro is part of the Argentinian Poetry Foundation, coordinates different literary groups, and his literary production has been partially translated into English, Greek and French.
The discussions were moderated by Bertha Bilbao Richter, teacher, literary critic and essayist, IAACP/UPF-Argentina representative, a judge and godmother of UPF-Argentina’s International Poetry-Artistic Contests since 2009.
It is worth recalling that IAACP is one of UPF’s most recent leadership areas, which seeks to gather personalities and entities related to art and culture, appreciating and motivating not only creativity and artistic expression, but also greater commitments for common good and Peace (2).

Reconocidos escritores en Ciclo IAACP/UPF Argentina
Sendos conversatorios con los reconocidos escritores Rubén Balseiro y Osvaldo Rossi (1) propuso el Ciclo de Poesía 2023 de la Asociación Internacional de Artes y Cultura para la Paz (IAACP)/UPF Argentina. Los encuentros por plataforma virtual se desarrollaron el 29 de junio y el 27 de julio 2023, respectivamente, convocando cada uno a más de 40 entusiastas participantes interesados en la poesía, no sólo de Argentina, sino de otros países, quienes hicieron comentarios y preguntas luego de sendas exposiciones.
El arte tiene el potencial de tender puentes a través de su lenguaje universal, trascendiendo fronteras, de reunir y movilizar a la dispersa familia humana, haciendo confluir mentes y corazones, como pocas áreas del quehacer humano. La poesía, y los poetas en particular, por su especial sensibilidad e interpretación de ciertos hechos los convierte muchas veces en “profetas de los tiempos”.
Osvaldo Rossi es un escritor, docente universitario, traductor del inglés al castellano, tanto en poesía como en ensayo; autor de 10 libros de poesía, uno de narrativa y tres ensayos sobre poesía. Rubén Balseiro integra la Fundación Argentina para la Poesía, coordina distintos grupos literarios, cuya producción literaria ha sido traducida parcialmente al inglés, griego y francés.
Los conversatorios fueron moderados por la Lic. Bertha Bilbao Richter, docente, crítica literaria y ensayista, referente de la IAACP/UPF Argentina, habiendo sido Jurado y Madrina de los concursos poéticos-artísticos internacionales organizados por UPF Argentina desde el 2009.
Cabe recordar que la IAACP es una de las más recientes áreas de liderazgo lanzadas por la UPF a nivel global, buscando reunir a personalidades y entidades vinculadas al arte y la cultura, valorando y motivando no sólo a la creatividad y expresión artística, sino a mayores compromisos por el bien común y la Paz (2).
