Luanda, Angola—The Universal Peace Federation in Angola held a conference on September 16, 2023 in Luanda, in the amphitheater of the Tocoist Higher Polytechnic Institute. The main theme of the conference was “Peace and Responsible Citizenship,” and its speakers were Ambassadors for Peace from different areas (IAPP, IAPD, IMAP and IATP). A total of 80 people attended in person and a total of 18 live via Zoom from São Tomé and Príncipe, Portugal and Namibia.
The activity was covered by two national television channels (TPA and TV ZIMBO), and there was full live coverage by Radio Tocoist, which received a certificate of recognition from UPF Angola as the Radio of Peace. UPF-Angola has a radio program on Radio Tocoist every Thursday for character education and Divine Principle. The Universal Peace Federation of Angola, through IMAP (International Media Association for Peace), awarded Radio Tocoist a certificate naming it “Radio of Peace” in recognition of the work that has been carried out jointly by UPF-Angola and FFWPU-Angola, through the radio program “Peace and Responsible Citizenship,” which focuses especially on the transmission of Character Education, thus providing a better understanding of the teachings of the Divine Principle that has already been transmitted. The certificate was received by His Holiness Bishop Afonso Nunes and the director general of the radio station, João Ndombaxi.
The Universal Peace Federation also awarded an Ambassador for Peace certificate to the sociologist and journalist José Ventura in recognition of his media work and teaching career, with which he has been impacting the lives of many young people for 18 years. He was also honored with a report by the Angolan newspaper for this achievement. An Ambassador for Peace certificate was also awarded to radio journalist Félix Lalo, who is the main presenter of the program “Peace and Responsible Citizenship” of the Universal Peace Federation-Angola on Radio Tocoist every Thursday from 9 - 10am. Also among the important attendees was Rev. Kinambuta Sambu Pedro.
