IAPP-Central America – In line with the United Nations calendar, held a webinar on September 21, corresponding to the International Day of Peace, with the theme: “Peace in the Americas is the Result of Actions.” The webinar, organized by one of the distinguished associations affiliated with the UPF, the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP), brought together personalities from North, Central, South, and the Caribbean of America.
From the north, Congressman Dan Burton, who also serves as co-president of IAPP, Congresswoman Loreta Sánchez, and the president of UPF-USA, Dr. Michael Jenkins, were present. The current congresswoman from Brazil, the Honorable Carla Zambeli, participated representing South America; for the Caribbean, congressman of the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago, the Honorable Rushton Vijay Paray; and for Central America, the president of the Congress of Honduras, the Honorable Luis Redondo. The event that was handled with professional precision by Larry Moffit, an accomplished media man who also serves as secretary general of UPF-USA.
The president of the Congress of Honduras, Hon. Luis Redondo, declared:
“Peace is a state of harmony, mutual respect, and cooperation between individuals, communities, and nations. Peace is the product of a constant effort full of challenges. Peace is not a gift that is automatically given to us, but rather it is an achievement that we must actively seek. I want to make a call on this day to action so that each of us in our daily lives contributes to a more peaceful world.”
In addition, President Redondo took the opportunity to launch an action towards peace, which is to submit a petition to the International Court of Justice that Castilian Spanish be accepted as an official language to settle conflicts since the official languages are only English and French. The regional president of UPF for Central America and the Caribbean, Dr. Ricardo De Sena, accepted the proposal and congratulated Congressman Redondo for such an initiative and offered the UPF media to support it.
Representative Zambelli from Brazil stated:
“Peace begins in the family. Then, in order to achieve peace, we must maintain unity within the family, and then the peace will spread to the neighborhood, to the city, to the state, and to the country.
“Respect for life from conception is the foundation of peace, which is why abortion cannot be legalized. As of now, abortion is illegal in Brazil. A fight against corruption and trafficking of children, denounced in the film The Sound of Freedom, is another action towards peace.”
Congresswoman Loreta Sánchez of the Latino community of the USA said,
“At the age of 14, I participated in a speech competition and realized my life had been filled with wars, which terrified me since what if there were still wars in the world when I died? Then I would not know the true meaning of peace. So, I have come to believe that peace is the work we all do together and must certainly begin with each of us.”
Another panelist was the Hon. Rushton Vijay Paray of the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean who stated:
“As we congregate under the guiding principles of both the United Nations International Day of Peace and the Universal Peace Federation, we are reminded of the profound weight that the tenet of peace carries in our global narrative. This vision of peace aligns perfectly with our shared dream of a world where prosperity is a collective triumph, where nations bond and collaborate to elevate each other.”
To conclude, Congressman Dan Burton gave a few words of thanks and said with full confidence:
“With these brilliant minds from the Americas sitting together and under the vision of Dr. Moon, we will be able to find solutions that will lead us to peace, the peace that Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon has worked so hard to achieve.”
The webinar included a welcome greeting from the international president of UPF, Dr. Charles Yang. Also, Dr. Michael Jenkins, president of UPF-USA, was full of praise and gratitude for the efforts of each panelist and members of the organizing team to make this interregional and continental gathering a success.

LA UPF DE LAS AMÉRICAS REALIZA WEBINAR POR LA PAZ
La UPF siempre en consonancia con el calendario de las Naciones Unidas, celebró un webinar el pasado de 21 de septiembre, correspondientemente al Día Internacional de la Paz. Bajo el Tema: La Paz en las Américas es el Resultado de Acciones.
El 21 de septiembre a las 9:00 EST se llevó a cabo el webinar de las Américas que reunió a personalidades del Norte, Centro, Sur y el Caribe de América. Este webinar fue organizado por la una de las insignes asociaciones afiliadas a la UPF como ser: la Asociación Internacional de Parlamentarios para la Paz (IAPP) por sus siglas en inglés.
Por parte del norte se contó con la presencia del Congresista Dan Burton quien además funge como copresidente de la asociación, la congresista Loreta Sánchez y el presidente de la UPF USA, el Dr. Michael Jenkins. Por Suramérica participaron la actual congresista de Brasil la Honorable Carla Zambeli. Por el Caribe el Congresista del parlamento de Trinidad y Tobago el Honorable Rushton Vijay Paray y por Centroamérica el Presidente del Congreso de Honduras el Honorable Luis Redondo. Evento que fue manejado con profesional precisión por Larry Moffit un consumado hombre de medios que también se desempeña como secretario general de la UPF / USA.
El Presidente del Congreso de Honduras expresó:
“La paz es un estado de armonía, de respeto mutuo, de cooperación entre individuos, comunidades y naciones. La paz es producto de un esfuerzo constante, lleno de desafíos. La paz no es un regalo que se nos da automáticamente, sino que es un logro que debemos buscar activamente. Quiero hacer un llamado en este día a la acción para que cada uno de nosotros en nuestras vidas cotidianas contribuyamos a un mundo más pacífico”
Además, aprovechó la oportunidad para lanzar una acción hacia la paz que es elevar una petición ante la Corte Internacional de Justicia que el español = Castellano sea aceptado como lengua oficial para dirimir conflictos, ya que las lenguas oficiales son el inglés y el francés. El presidente regional para Centro América y el Caribe, el Dr. Ricardo De Sena dio por recibida la propuesta y felicitó al diputado Redondo por tal iniciativa y ofreció los medios de difusión de la UPF para apoyarla.
La diputada Zambelli de Brasil estableció que:
La paz se inicia en la familia, es la unidad dentro de la familia la que tenemos que cuidar para tener paz [la que se expande] luego al barrio, la ciudad, al estado y países.
La paz es el respeto a la vida desde la concepción, por lo que no se puede permitir la legalización del aborto. Por ahora el aborto es prohibido por ley en Brasil. Otra acción hacia la paz es la lucha contra el tráfico y abuso sexual de niños denunciado por la película The Sound of Freedom, también lo es la lucha contra la corrupción.
La congresista Loreta Sánchez de la comunidad Latina de los USA compartió:
Cuando yo era una niña de apenas 14 años participé en un concurso de oratoria y me di cuenta de que a esa edad toda mi vida había transcurrido en medio de guerras y eso me aterrorizó porque qué tal si al morir yo, todavía haya guerra en el mundo, entonces no llegaría a saber el verdadero significado de la paz.
Así que he llegado a creer que la paz es el trabajo que todos hacemos juntos, sin duda debe empezar desde cada uno de nosotros.
Otro panelista fue el Hon. Rushton Vijay Paray del parlamento de Trinidad y Tobago en el Caribe, quien compartió:
Al reunirnos bajo los principios rectores tanto del Día Internacional de la Paz de las Naciones Unidas como de la Federación para la Paz Universal, recordamos el profundo peso que el principio de la paz tiene en nuestra narrativa global.
“Esta visión de paz se alinea perfectamente con nuestro sueño compartido de un mundo donde la prosperidad sea un triunfo colectivo, donde las naciones se unan y colaboren para elevarse mutuamente.”
Para finalizar el congresista, Dan Burton dio unas palabras de agradecimiento y dijo con plena confianza:
“Así como estas brillantes mentes de estos expositores de las Américas pueden sentarse juntos y bajo la visión de la Dra. Moon realmente seremos capaces de traer soluciones que nos llevarán a la paz, esa paz por la cual la Dra. Hak Ja han Moon ha trabajado tanto”.
El webinar contó con un saludo de bienvenida por parte del presidente Internacional de la UPF el Dr. Charles Yang. No faltaron las palabras del presidente de la UPF USA Dr. Michael Jenkins, de encomio y agradecimiento al esfuerzo de cada panelista y miembros del equipo organizador por llevar a cabo este esfuerzo de carácter interregional y continental de manera exitosa.
