UPF Holds Service Project at Russia’s ‘Ecumenical Temple’

Updated: Apr 16, 2024

Kazan, Russia—The local UPF chapter commemorated International Day of Peace by organizing a service project at the international cultural centre known as the “Ecumenical Temple.”

Ten UPF volunteers met on September 25, 2023, at the Temple of All Religions, a unique architectural structure built in 1994 by local painter and sculptor Ildar Khanov and his brother Ilgiz with the dream of uniting followers of all religions.

In this complex of buildings, located in a village outside Kazan, one can see towers and domes with symbols of major world religions.

The UPF service project consisted of spreading sand in the backyard and cleaning the Tatar and Orthodox halls, as well as the workshop where amazing mosaics are created.

Kazan, which lies on the Volga River, is Russia’s fifth-largest city and the capital of Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan. The city contains almost equal numbers of ethnic Tatars and Russians.
