Asuncion, Paraguay – UPF-Paraguay joined with the Women's Federation for World Peace in hosting a meeting of interfaith leaders on February 25, 2024, in conjunction with the World Interfaith Harmony Week. The 50 guests in attendance included Catholics, Evangelicals, Muslims and Unificationists.
Ambassador for Peace Nancy Ibarra shared from the teachings of Islam. UPF-Paraguay President Evaristo Fernández shared a message on the theme “Justice Will Prevail, Truth Will Prevail.” His speech was very well received. In closing, Mr. Fernandez and his wife offered a prayer of blessing.
On February 29, a conference on the theme “Empowering Women and the Family” was held ahead of International Women’s Day. Mr. Evaristo Fernández gave the welcoming remarks, and read a message of peace from UPF co-founder Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon.
Forty-five women from different sectors of society participated. Two ambassadors for peace spoke about the role of women and their empowerment, within and beyond the family. They emphasized the importance of men, in their roles as husband, father, son or brother, in supporting women to take up leadership roles in the family and in society.
