Chimbote, Peru—UPF-Peru launched Peace Road 2023 with a massive walk for Universal Peace in the City of Chimbote-Province of Santa on August 5, 2023.
After the ceremony of raising the Peace flag by the secretary general of UPF-Peru, Mr. Jaime Fernández Túpac, the Peace Road march began from the Miguel Grau Square in the City of Chimbote. Among the marchers were the Mayor of the Province of Santa, Ambassador for Peace Luis Gamarra Alor, councilors, officials, navy personnel, the National Police and the public. The route followed the main avenues for 2 kilometers, ending in front of the Municipality of the Province of Santa.
1,000 people participated, marching with their respective Peace Road poles and flags, carrying white balloons that were launched into the sky as a symbol of Peace.
Mr. Jaime Fernández Túpac, representing Dr. Trevor Jones, president of UPF-Peru, spoke about the purpose of Peace Road at the departure ceremony and about the Founders of UPF at the arrival ceremony.
For his part, Mayor Luis Gamarra Alor said in his message that all citizens want to live in Peace and build a world of values, where justice and love reign and that he shares this Peace Road project of the Founders of UPF to unify and build a world of Peace, full of hope transcending barriers as one great universal family under God.
